Most Used Items: 18-months

Aiden is a year and a half! You can read his 18-month update here.Ā  In the last six months, he has really started to change developmentally so I wanted to share some of his favorite things. Here are our most used items 18-months edition — from the new things we are using to some of his old favorites.

Here is an overview of all of our 18-month old's favorite things -- from the old things that he has always loved to lots of new things.

Playtime:

Aiden’s favorite things are balls, trucks, blocks, and his Melissa and Doug pull back vehicle set. He loves anything with music so his piano is still a big hit.

The Beatbo is something Aiden has had since the very beginning and he still loves it. We love watching his development around Beatbo from just staring at the lights in his early days to learning how to push the buttons to now where he is dancing and singing with it. He loves the Beat BowWow too.

Aiden loves books. He will carry them around and come and sit in our lap and ask us to read to him. He even reads himself which is really cute — we can’t understand a word he is saying (unless it’s about animals because he can make animal noises). He especially loves Dr. Seuss, the Sesame Street First Library, and the Lost My Name books, but really it’s whatever book he can get his hands on and grab off the shelf šŸ˜†

Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner/Snacks:

Aiden loves to eat. He typically has the three main meals and then sometimes an afternoon snack of yogurt or fruit. He is getting really good at eating with forks and spoons. We love these Re-Play utensils. For plates, we use this personalized Dylbug plastic plate and Nuby Bamboo Printed Bowls. Our favorite cups are the Munchkin Miracle 360 cups and Nuby has a similar one that we use a lot.Ā

If we are on the go, we travel with silicone plate mats. Nuby has two great versions (here and here). We always bring a Camelbak Eddy Kids water bottle with us too.

Bathtime:

Bathtime is still a big part of Aiden’s routine. He loves playing and splashing around in the water. We use Johnson’s Baby Shampoo and alternate between Aveno and Babyganics bubble bath. Babyganics makes more sudsy bubbles but the Aveno smells really nice. We have surprisingly had really good results with Seventh Generation Coconut Care line of products. We use the foaming wash and diaper cream. We also use Seventh Generation laundry detergent.

Bedtime:

Aiden is still in his crib (p.s. it’s on special and you can use the promo code FRIENDS (6/15-6/18)Ā  to save 20% for their friends and family sale). He also still loves the DockATot Grand (save $10 with referral link). Now that he is older we do give him a light blanket, but he doesn’t seem to really use it. He still sleeps with a sound machine too.

Out and about:

Aiden is still rear facing in his Chicco Next Fit car seat. We are still using the Chicco stroller for our main stroller and the Graco LiteRider for our travel stroller. We still wear Aiden occasionally in our Lillebaby carrier — now that Aiden is heavier we really like the lumbar support this carrier provides. We love hiking with Aiden so we got a gently used Kelty Pathfinder Backpack and we love it.

I think that’s about it for our favorite products and the things we use the most.

About Melissa

Hi, Iā€™m Melissa! I am a mama to my baby Aiden Milo (born November 2015), and a police wife to my husband Dan. I started this blog because, after having Aiden, I quickly learned that exhaustion and baby brain causes you to forget some of the er-lovely (sometimes horrible and sometimes wonderful) details related to the first several months of raising a baby. Considering we may have more kids in the future, I want to document everything we do, so we remember what worked the first time around, and hopefully help other first time mamas along the way!
  • Great list! I have a 16 month old and agree with a lot of these products! I’ve been looking at the lillebaby carrier for baby #2 due in 1 month. If you don’t mind me asking, how much does baby Aiden weigh? I’m curious to know how much weight is still “comfortable” in this carrier from someone who uses it! I had a different brand with my daughter and stopped being about to carry her when she hit about 16lbs!

While reading your post I kept smiling and nodding. I have a 14 month old who uses so many of the same products. Dockatot was a LIFESAVER, and my daughter is obsessed with trucks, balls and blocks too! šŸ™‚

  • Babies to Bookworms

My daughter loves her play piano and Dr. Seuss books too! She has now moved up to our real piano, and she loves pounding away on it, singing at the top of her lungs! It makes me smile.

  • Kate Cushman

18 months seems like such a fun age! I’ve got about a year until my little is there and I can’t wait to see her likes and dislikes as she becomes more independent!

  • Many of these are my daughter’s favorites too! šŸ™‚

  • What a cutie !! We need to purchase some Dr. Seuss books !
