Happy 18 Months! Aiden’s 18 Month Update

Whew, it’s hard to believe that Aiden is 18 months (a month and a half) already! He has turned into such a confident and outgoing little BOY. Luckily for us he is still super snugly though so  I can’t complain! I will say taking these milestone photos has gotten much harder. This picture is a great example, by the end of the pictures the boards were all messed up and there were books and toys everywhere from trying to get him to sit for a minute 😆

This is our toddler's 18-month update including his favorite things, developments, and milestones.

Anyway, here is his 18 months update!

We had his 18 months well visit with the pediatrician and learned that Aiden is 24.8lbs (35 percentile) and 32 inches (40 percentile). We have come a long way from the days when Aiden was barely on the charts!

Wherever we go he has to make his rounds, say hi to everyone and give them a high five or fist bump. Sometimes even a kiss, which is a little awkward when it comes to strangers! When we are around family he has to sit in everyone’s lap and give them some love (and attempt to con them into giving him their phone or a snack). Yes, he knows he is cute and is a bit of a trickster too. He has associated people with certain foods so whenever he sees his nana he asks for oranges, pop pop gives him blueberries, and his child care provider gives him bananas. He is a smart little guy!

He still loves to eat. His favorite foods are fruit (oranges, blueberries, strawberries, bananas), oatmeal, eggs, tacos, chicken, and spaghetti. He is not a huge fan of cheese or vegetables.  He still drinks whole milk and water throughout the day. He will sit with us in his high chair for breakfast, lunch, and dinner without complaint so we are happy with that.

Aiden’s teeth are finally coming in — literally this week! He has been absolutely miserable and it’s no wonder. He has two molars, four top teeth, and one on the bottom breaking though all at once. Plus he has the top front teeth and bottom front teeth that have already broken through that he got between months 14-18. I will have a separate post with an update on how we are handling teething, but basically it’s terrible!

Aiden has quite the personality. While most children his age are probably watching Paw Patrol or some other baby show Aiden prefers to watch videos of choreography on Youtube for his screen time. He has actually picked up some moves from his favorite dance. We keep trying to record it, but it’s really hard to catch! In addition to singing and dancing he loves playing with cars, trucks, blocks, and balls. He still loves to read. We have to read 3-4 books before bed and he reads throughout the day too.

He understands and can respond to us in sound effects. We will ask him what a police car says (weow weow), monkey (eee eee oh), seagull (caw caw), lion (roar) and dog (panting noise lol). He can count to three and always expects something to happen on three. He also understands Spanish because that is the language his homecare provider speaks to him in! So it’s funny to try and decipher exactly what he is saying sometimes!

He still sleeps very well. He takes a 1.5-2 hour nap in the morning and then goes to bed around 6:30-7:00 and sleeps until 7:00am!

Overall we feel very lucky to have such a happy and healthy little guy. To see what Aiden’s current favorite things are check out Most Used Items: 18-months.

About Melissa

Hi, I’m Melissa! I am a mama to my baby Aiden Milo (born November 2015), and a police wife to my husband Dan. I started this blog because, after having Aiden, I quickly learned that exhaustion and baby brain causes you to forget some of the er-lovely (sometimes horrible and sometimes wonderful) details related to the first several months of raising a baby. Considering we may have more kids in the future, I want to document everything we do, so we remember what worked the first time around, and hopefully help other first time mamas along the way!
