Nolan’s first year is moving right along. He turned five months in September and his little personality is really starting to come out. We have been busy as ever with a lot of travel during the month, plus trying to soak up the last bit of summer.

Five Month Old Baby Stats
Nolan is 15 lbs 11 oz. He is in 3-6 months or 6-months clothes depending on the brand. His growth seems to be slowing which is normal for a breastfed baby (I’m told) around this time. We don’t have a well visit this month so we will see what the doctor has to say next month.
Eating
Not much new to report here. We have given Nolan a few solids to try. Mostly purees while he is at his Grandparent’s house with his six-month-old cousin. I have a bunch of business travel so it’s something we plan to focus on when I return and things settle down.
Five Month Old Baby Milestones
Nolan is rolling in both directions (back to front and vice versa). He is also sitting more on his own. He still needs some support while sitting but for short periods he is good on his own. He is as smiley as ever and loves to make noise. Blowing raspberries is his favorite thing to do. He rotates in all directions from his stomach.

Five-Month-Old Baby Sleeping Patterns
When 7 pm hits Nolan is done. We can put him down and he falls asleep pretty much instantly. He will sleep until about 11 pm when I feed him before I go to bed, then he is up again at 3 am and then again at 6 am. We definitely need to sleep train but, again, with all the business travel it’s not a priority for us right now. I also don’t want my supply to tank during the travel, so frequent feeding makes sense at the moment.
Five-Month-Old Baby Activities
As far as toys, Nolan loves his Baseball Winkel Rattle and Skip Hop Dog and Moose. We found this infant-to-toddler rocker that is perfect for mornings and when I am trying to do bedtime routine with Aiden.
We are still doing stroller strides as much as possible when I am home.
We visited Great Country Farms to pick apples.

Travel with our Five Month Old Baby
This month we did a trip to Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Both Nolan and Aiden visited PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates, for the first time as we caught a game of our Nationals playing there. Our travel essentials for this trip were the Pack and Play and Ergo 360 Carrier.
Five Month Old Baby Challenges
Sleep continues to be our biggest struggle. Not only due to his nightly wake-ups but also finding consistent nap times. We are often out and about so we count on him taking naps in his carrier or stroller. Now that he is more alert and aware of everything around him those naps on the go are not as easy.

Big Brother’s Adjustment
Aiden still seems to be adjusting well to his role as big brother. Now that Nolan is more alert he likes playing with him and showing him how to use toys. He is very sweet and nurturing towards Nolan.
We are looking forward to several of Nolan’s first holidays coming up!
