Easy Halloween Costumes for Baby

Easy Halloween Costumes for Baby

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I remember my mom spending a lot of time making our Halloween costumes and they were always unique and fun. I can’t wait to do the same for my little guy! I don’t necessarily have the time (or talent) to hand make a costume, but I do want Aiden to have something original and more special than a store bought costume. An easy Halloween costume is a must. Plus, I hate spending money on something he will only use for a few hours. This year, I had a ton of ideas for what to dress Aiden as, in the end, I settled on a minion.

Here are some ideas if you are still looking for easy Halloween costumes with reusable pieces that your baby will be able to wear again.

Minion from Despicable Me

The Minion costume was really easy. First, I purchased a crochet minion hat. There are a ton of them on Etsy. I got mine from Maiwear and received it within a week. I love this because Aiden can use it during the winter. For the outfit, I had a pair of denim overalls (because what baby boy doesn’t have denim overalls) and a yellow long-sleeve bodysuit. It was hard to find a plain yellow bodysuit so I figured the overalls would cover the message on this one! I found a graphic of the minion symbol which I will print out and put on the overalls. Black moccasins and black gloves round out the Minion costume.

Want a matching parent costume? Have dad dress up in a black suit and he can be Gru.

Sully from Monsters Inc.

2017 Update: The items from Toys R Us are no longer available. Here is an alternate Sully costume option from Amazon. Here is a blue coverall that you could pair with the Sully hat listed below. You could also do this Mike Wazzowski PJ with the Sully hat.

Sully was a close second for Aiden’s Halloween costume. I already had a Sully hat that we got at a craft fair earlier this year. Here is one on Etsy. I found this Sully sweatshirt on sale at Babies R Us and these sweatpants with Mike Wazowski on the side, which I thought was perfect, especially because each of the pieces is reusable. One thing to note is that they are sold out online so you should contact your local store to make sure they have these in stock.

Yoda from Star Wars

I actually thought about this one a little late. If I didn’t already have the supplies for the minion I probably would dress Aiden as Yoda. I mean, how cute would it be if Dan dressed like Luke Skywalker and carried baby Yoda in the Ergo šŸ˜†

This costume is super simple. All you need is brown footie pajamas, a white sherpa hoodie, and a Yoda knit hat. If you don’t want to do footie pajamas, you could also do this kimono wrap bodysuit (so Star Wars) and pants. You can also get these sage moccs to complete the look.

Do you hand make your costumes or go with store bought? Let me know what your littles will be this year!

Hi, Iā€™m Melissa! I am a mama to an energetic toddler, a wife to my amazing husband Dan, and I work full-time as a meeting planner. I started this blog because, after having my little guy, I quickly learned that exhaustion and baby brain causes you to forget some of the amazing (sometimes horrible and sometimes wonderful) details related to the first several months of raising a baby. Considering we may have more kids in the future, I want to document everything we do, so we remember what worked the first time around, and hopefully help other first time mamas along the way!
