Gift Idea for New Dad: JORD Unique Watch

The fall is always very busy for us. Once Labor Day hits it is the start of many holidays including all of our birthdays, Dan and my anniversary (today 😀 ) and, the big one, Christmas. I know these holidays are not all about the gifts and honestly just being together is my favorite part of the holidays; none the less, it always takes a lot of creative planning to find the perfect gifts for each of these occasions.  Since I am doing the research anyway, I plan to provide several posts on the best gifts for everybody on your list. Today, I am highlighting a perfect  gift idea for new dads, a unique watch, featuring JORD Wood Watches. There is also a giveaway for shop credit and everybody is a winner!

As I was doing my research on the best gifts for new dads, I was really excited to learn about JORD Wood Watches. A unique watch is a perfect gift for a new dad (or any dad).  Here are my top three reasons why:

  1. Baby brain — You may have noticed I write a lot about baby brain.  You know, the phenomena where you have a baby and all of a sudden lose your short term memory. Well, dad’s have it too! I can’t tell you how many times we have left our phones at home or in the car and have no clue what time it is. With a watch, you put it on your wrist and forget about it.  It’s always there and you never have to worry about losing track of time. Well, hopefully, you remember you are wearing it! This brings me to number two…
  2. Keep on schedule — We went the scheduled route with our baby and I truly believe that was the best thing for us. With that being said, for the last year our days have been split into three hour cycles. Especially in the early days, there was a ton of keeping track of time involved. When he started eating, when he finished eating, when he went to sleep, when he woke up, etc. Even now, he has a consistent wake-up, nap and bedtime so having a watch is really, really helpful and crucial for when we are out and about.
  3. Comfort is key — With a new baby, you do not want a heavy metal watch hanging off your wrist. It could hurt the baby, get in the way when you are changing a diaper, or just generally be annoying.  A wood watch is light-weight.  The first thing Dan said when he tried it on is “it’s so light” which is a wonderful feature for a watch to have.

When I looked at the watches JORD had to offer, I was really excited. They are beautiful — it was so hard to choose one from the vast selection. I am a HUGE fan of anything with a rustic-y feel and what is more rustic than wood?  The Frankie watch that I ultimately chose is a perfect compliment to Dan’s casual style, but can so easily be dressed up  for those rare occasions (like our anniversary dinner, or sister-in-law’s upcoming wedding) that he does dress up. I went with a dark wood because that is more Dan’s style, but they have lots of other colors from which to choose. It came already sized (thanks to their handy sizing guide) so we didn’t have to worry about that, and it’s also affordable. I love that you can get this high-end looking/feeling watch for a really affordable price.

Watches aren’t just a great gift for dads. New mamas can benefit from a watch as well and JORD has some great women’s watches too. Now that Dan has his and I have seen how beautiful they are, I’ve added one to my Christmas list too 😀

I am really excited that JORD has offered to give one Baby Castan on Board reader a $75 e-gift code and even better, everyone who enters will receive a $20 e-gift code. Click on the link below to enter.

Hi, I’m Melissa! I am a mama to an energetic preschooler and newborn, a wife to my amazing husband Dan, and I work full-time as a meeting planner. I started this blog because, after having my first little guy, I quickly learned that exhaustion and baby brain causes you to forget some of the amazing (sometimes horrible and sometimes wonderful) details related to the first several months of raising a baby. Realizing that we would probably have more kids in the future, I wanted to document everything, so we would remember what worked the first time around, and hopefully help other first time mamas along the way!
