An Easy DIY Toddler Yoda Costume For Halloween

I love Halloween. It is one of my favorite holidays. I love coming up with fun costume ideas for Aiden, but I do not like purchasing Halloween costumes from the store because they are expensive, generic, and usually only used one time. Once I figure out what I want him to be I find a way to make the costume using items Aiden already has or will use again. This year I decided to go with a toddler Yoda costume and I am getting Dan involved!

Here is an easy DIY toddler Yoda costume for Halloween using items you already have or will use again. Plus, a bonus Luke Skywalker costume for Dads.

I actually thought of a baby Yoda costume last year and loved the idea of putting Aiden in his carrier with Dan dressed as Luke Skywalker. I didn’t end up doing it last year because I committed to the minion idea first. I actually think it works out better this year because Aiden fits better in the back facing carrier and looks even more like Yoda peering over Dan’s shoulder.

This is what I used for Aiden’s toddler Yoda costume:

Brown Leggings – L’ovedbaby
Unisex Organic Hoodie (used for the Jedi robe look) — L’ovedbaby
Brown T-Shirt — We have a L’ovedbaby tee but it is sold out so this is an alternate option
Custom Crochet Yoda Hat –Etsy; Ashley Loves Yarn
Moccasins — Freshly Picked (Not pictured — they haven’t come in yet)

As a sidenote, if you haven’t tried L’ovedbaby you definitely should. They have the softest coziest cotton basics for little ones. Aiden’s coming home outfit was from L’ovedbaby and I have been a big fan since.

And are the details on Dan’s Luke Skywalker Outfit

Tan jeans — Goodfellow & Co at Target (also, jeans are buy one get one 50% off so we stocked up on Dan’s jeans at the same time!)
Short Sleeve Sweatshirt (perfect for a Jedi robe look)– Target
Lightsaber (to be added to the belt strap of the ergo carrier) — Target
Baby Carrier — Ergobaby  (Use code: jo8KbuYBBM to save 10% at Ergobaby on one item through September 2018.)

With both Dan and Aiden I wanted to make sure that any pieces we purchased would be used again. As you can see it didn’t take much to come up with a cute Star Wars inspired Halloween look with a toddler Yoda and Luke Skywalker dad.

What are your little ones going to be for Halloween?

About Melissa

Hi, I’m Melissa! I am a mama to an energetic preschooler and newborn, a wife to my amazing husband Dan, and I work full-time as a meeting planner. I started this blog because, after having my first little guy, I quickly learned that exhaustion and baby brain causes you to forget some of the amazing (sometimes horrible and sometimes wonderful) details related to the first several months of raising a baby. Realizing that we would probably have more kids in the future, I wanted to document everything, so we would remember what worked the first time around, and hopefully help other first time mamas along the way!
