Summer is in full swing and we are loving every minute. There is still a ton of summer left so I thought I would round-up our most used summer essentials for toddlers. From playing to swimming this is everything we are using this summer.

Here are our must-have summer essentials for toddlers:
Sunscreen: We are outside for most of the day so skin protection is a number one priority. We have gotten in the habit of putting sunscreen on Aiden every morning when he gets dressed. Our go-to is Babyganics. We have a large tube in his room and I love this Babyganics Outdoor Essentials kit to keep in his diaper bag so we can apply throughout the day. We use the lotion rather than the spray to ensure complete coverage.
Bug Spray: The one thing I don’t love about summer? Bugs. Mosquitos, gnats, and black flies can be particularly bad where we live. I always spray some Babyganics Deet Free bug spray anytime we go out especially if we are hiking or doing something in more rural locations.
Swimwear and Rash Guard: It seems like just about every day has a reason for Aiden to be in a bathing suit. Whether he is in the pool, a splash pad, jumping in the rain, or running through a sprinkler he gets a lot of use out of his swimwear. You can check out our favorites here.
Bubbles: Our little cannot get enough bubbles. Any time there is even a threat of a meltdown we break out the bubbles and it solves everything. Dan and I got a little tired of blowing them so we found this fun bubble machine. The downside is that it only lasts a few minutes and goes through a lot of bubble solution so we buy the large containers of bubbles and don’t use the bubble machine every day. For our everyday bubble adventures, we use this No-Spill Bubble Bucket.
Balance Bike: We got Aiden his first bike this summer and he loves it. We decided to get him a Radio Flyer balance bike. It is basically a bike without pedals. It helps teach balance and steering first without relying on training wheels. It is still a little bit big for him, but he is growing quickly and getting comfortable with steering. He loves ringing the bell — it’s so cute!
Sprinklers: Sometimes I don’t feel like getting everything together to walk to our community pool. On those days I usually set up the sprinkler and let Aiden run through it. We love this one — it’s simple but lots of fun. If that one isn’t available at your local store, check out this similar one.
Puddle Jumper: We visit our community pool a couple of times a week. I always feel more comfortable putting Aiden in his puddle jumper life jacket. They come in tons of colors and styles!
Water shoes: We love shoes that can go from wet to dry depending no matter what we are doing. We consider these and these toddler summer essentials because they are mostly closed toed and look like sneakers/regular shoes but can get wet. We have gone through several pairs because we keep getting new ones every year!
Sand Toys: We are planning a couple of trips to the beach this summer so I picked up these fun sand toys. These would also work well for a backyard sandbox.
What are your can’t live without summer essentials for toddlers? I would love to hear about them in the comments!
