Highlights From our Six Month Photo Shoot

Baby Aiden close-up

A couple of weeks ago we did a six-month photo shoot with Aiden. Initially we weren’t really considering doing one, but when we looked back at his newborn photos we started to realize how much he has already changed, and couldn’t pass up the opportunity!

We decided to do a “lifestyle” photo session versus an “in-studio” session. The lifestyle session made the most sense for us right now because Aiden loves the outdoors, he is sitting, standing (with our help) and eating solid foods, so this gave us a great opportunity to showcase those developments with a beautiful backdrop. Plus, with his birthday being at the end of November, it’s not like we will often have the opportunity to take advantage of the nice weather for photos.

Dressing for the occasion was a lot of fun, but honestly, I didn’t do much shopping. We stuck with a few shades of neutral colors (blue/white/brown) and then gave Aiden a pop of color since, really, he was the star of the show! Dan is wearing a linen Lucky Brand shirt and Lucky Brand shorts, which he already had. My dress is from Old Navy, (it was $10 and is great for breast feeding BTW)! Aiden’s shorts and polo are from Zara. His striped t-shirt is from Cotton On Kids (similar) and jeans from Carters.

How did we get a teething six-month-old to cooperate? Well, first, we took him right after feeding him, that bought us a good hour. Second, there was a ton of stuff to keep him distracted and happy. Finally, we bribed him with watermelon. He did have his diva moments though!

In the end, we got some amazing photos which I know are going to look back on and be really happy! Thank you to Mike Aron for the beautiful photos!

Hi, I’m Melissa! I am a mama to an energetic preschooler and newborn, a wife to my amazing husband Dan, and I work full-time as a meeting planner. I started this blog because, after having my first little guy, I quickly learned that exhaustion and baby brain causes you to forget some of the amazing (sometimes horrible and sometimes wonderful) details related to the first several months of raising a baby. Realizing that we would probably have more kids in the future, I wanted to document everything, so we would remember what worked the first time around, and hopefully help other first time mamas along the way!
