A New Year and a New House

A New Year and a New House

I hope everyone had a great holiday! We welcomed the New Year with a big (unexpected) change…we bought a house. We went in for a discussion with our mortgage broker and realized that we had finally saved enough to afford a house in our area. We still weren’t sure we were ready to buy but we found a perfect house within our budget a few days before Thanksgiving, put in an offer and closed two days after Christmas. Trying to get everything together to coordinate a move in three weeks around the holidays has been pure chaos! However we are finally settling in and I am ready to get back to regular posting.

Buying a house has been a goal of ours for the last 4-5 years so the fact that we finally reached this milestone is quite an accomplishment. We definitely had to make some sacrifices. You know you are a parent when you give up your dreams of a single family home with a huge kitchen and bright office space for a townhouse with a finished basement playroom in a great school district šŸ˜† It’s also a bit of a fixer upper which means I will be adding a new topic to my blog…home DIY and decor. We tackled Aiden’s room and the basement playroom first and I can’t wait to share those spaces with you in the coming months.

I would also love to know what content you would like to see more of here. Please drop me an email, leave a comment, or fill out this short six question survey. I would really appreciate it!

Thank you for your patience as I had to put the blog on the back burner for a bit. Here’s to a great 2020!

Hi, Iā€™m Melissa! I am a mama to an energetic preschooler and newborn, a wife to my amazing husband Dan, and I work full-time as a meeting planner. I started this blog because, after having my first little guy, I quickly learned that exhaustion and baby brain causes you to forget some of the amazing (sometimes horrible and sometimes wonderful) details related to the first several months of raising a baby. Realizing that we would probably have more kids in the future, I wanted to document everything, so we would remember what worked the first time around, and hopefully help other first time mamas along the way!
