Company Spotlight: Finn and Emma

When thinking about baby products one very important thing to consider is where and how the products are made. When you think about how delicate babies are (especially their skin) and how they  put EVERYTHING in their mouths, it is important to consider products that are made with natural materials that are safe for a baby to wear and/or handle. That is why we LOVE Finn and Emma.

Finn and Emma is probably best known for their adorable play gyms. The play gyms are great, but did you know they have so much more to offer? We are big fans of all of Finn and Emma’s products and use lots of them on a daily basis.

Our first experience with Finn and Emma were their teething toys. Aiden loved his wood teething rattle and teething ring. We loved it because we know the wood toys are made from untreated Indian hardwood, finished with vegetable seed wax, and filled with little beans. Because the materials used to make the product are organic and eco-safe we had no fears about Aiden chewing on it.

Then we tried the play mat and the two-piece stroller set. These pieces are perfect for traveling both near and far.  The stroller toys can be attached to a car seat, stroller or even the playmat. They are great to keep Aiden entertained while we are driving. The hand-knit toys are made by an artisanal women’s collective in Peru with G.O.T.S certified organic cotton yarn and wool stuffing.  (G.O.T.S is a certification that ensures organic status of textiles from harvesting of the raw materials through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing all the way to labeling). The rattle inside is  phthalate-free.

The play mat is essential for any mom because it’s easily stored in a diaper bag and can be put down just about everywhere to make sure baby stays clean and safe. I love that this can be used with the play mat or while you are out and about and that the stroller toys can clip right onto the mat for extra entertainment (that can’t be thrown :-))

Finn and Emma also sells adorable  pajamas, bodysuits and accessories like bibs, hats and swaddle blankets. We got Aiden a pair of footie pajamas and they are by far the softest pajamas he owns — like butter! The garments are made with G.O.T.S. certified organic cotton and non-toxic, eco-friendly dyes.  The garment snaps are lead/nickel free and feature real coconut inserts.  I also love the generous fit which will allow Aiden to wear them longer—and accommodate his disposable diapers (or even cloth if you go that route). I also love the fun colors and patterns and how everything coordinates in collections.

Once I became a mom I quickly realized that it matters what you put on your baby and what you give him or her to play with. With Finn and Emma I don’t have to think twice about what Aiden is playing with or wearing. These products are also perfect for creating a gift basket for a baby shower or welcome home gift.

About Melissa

Hi, I’m Melissa! I am a mama to my baby Aiden Milo (born November 2015), and a police wife to my husband Dan. I started this blog because, after having Aiden, I quickly learned that exhaustion and baby brain causes you to forget some of the er-lovely (sometimes horrible and sometimes wonderful) details related to the first several months of raising a baby. Considering we may have more kids in the future, I want to document everything we do, so we remember what worked the first time around, and hopefully help other first time mamas along the way!
