I am so excited for the holiday weekend. While I recognize the reason for the holiday and truly appreciate the sacrifice those who died while serving in the country’s armed forces made, it is still the official kick-off of summer for me. What is more perfect in the summer months than a cold popsicle? We have three recipes for healthy, but still delicious fruitsicles which are far better for toddlers (and parents too)!
My husband is the chef in the family so I asked him to come up with a few recipes for possible fruitsicles and I have to say he did an amazing job. We always like to feed Aiden things that are more complex in flavor so he did a strawberry/blueberry/basil/acai, apple/mango/rosemary, and orange/peach/plum/vanilla. You can find the recipes below.
Aiden loved them and I loved them too! They are super simple to make — you probably have all the ingredients at home. The only other things we needed were a blender and a Nuby Garden Fresh Fruitsicle Tray.
Disclosure: I received the Nuby Garden Fresh Fruitsicle Tray from Nuby at no cost in exchange for my honest review. The Nuby Garden Fresh Fruitsicle Tray is a freeze and feed popsicle mold. It turns fresh fruit puree or even juice into popsicles. There are four molds that hold about 1 fluid ounce each. I love that the “sticks” are reusable and the perfect size for small hands and the base is wide and curved to help reduce dripping. This is especially helpful when your toddler gets distracted and forgets to eat for a second! They are BPA free so totally safe for a toddler to eat off of. They are available on Amazon so if you have Amazon Prime they can be yours in two days with free shipping!
Here is a quick how-to video to show you how easy it is to make these fruitsicles:
- 4 strawberries
- 1/4 cup blueberries
- 1/4 tsp basil
- 1 packet defrosted acai
- 1/2 apple chopped (we used Golden Delicious)
- 1/4 cup defrosted frozen mango
- 2 sprigs of rosemary diced
- 1 orange chopped
- 1 peach chopped
- 1 plum chopped
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Place ingredients in blender
- Blend until smooth (you may need to add a little milk to the apple/mango/rosemary puree)
- Fill the fruitsicle molds 3/4 of the way to the top
- Snap the handle into the molds
- Freeze ovenight
It’s so easy 🙂
We even captured Aiden’s first brainfreeze 😆
