Growing Roots Review: Subscription Service for New Moms

There are SO many subscription services out there right now. I think you can find one for anything. I love the idea of monthly subscriptions, but I sometimes find it difficult to find one that matches value with things I actually need or can use. There is a new subscription based service called Growing Roots that offered to send me a box and I was excited to try it out because it is meant for beginning families and sounded like a great fit for a new mom like me.

Growing Roots is a monthly subscription service for new moms and beginning families. It supports moms in the early years of parenting.

Disclosure: I received the Ultimate Growing Roots Box from Growing Roots at no cost in exchange for my honest review. I only write about products I love. Thank you for supporting the brands that support this blog.

Growing Roots sends a curated subscription box of quality crafted products for mom and baby. Each box encourages connection and inspires making memories with family. It supports moms in the early years of parenting by providing inspiration on parenting techniques and common hurdles you might face.

Each box contains:

  • 1 research based parenting technique
  • 3-5 quality crafted and natural goodies to provide a healthy foundation for you and your child

The founder of Growing Roots is a mom and former high school counselor and teacher with a Masters in counseling so she knows what she is talking about when she puts these boxes together. You can tell that every little detail was carefully thought out down to the packaging. I love the packaging. There are quotes from famous children’s stories and the wood grain printing is a beautiful touch.

The box I received is all about sleep and includes products to help me and my family get a good nights sleep. My “sweet dreams” box includes:

  • Little Flowers Soap Co. Lavender Bath Salts
  • Growing Roots Shop Eye Pillow
  • Packet of Lavender Seeds
  • Abbie’s House Bedtime Chart + Six Magnet Wood Tiles
  • Someday by Alison McGhee
  • The Going To Bed Book by Sandra Boynton
  • Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss (pocket size)
  • A few tips about bedtime routine (this is the research based parenting technique)

You can see how much Aiden enjoys the books and I love the bedtime chart! It will be a lot of fun for Aiden to use as he gets older. Check out our unboxing:

I am a big fan of lavender so I love all the relaxing products for mom. The bath salts  gave me an excuse to pamper myself with a bath!

Growing Roots is a monthly subscription service for new moms and beginning families. It supports moms in the early years of parenting. As it is the first, this box had a few extra items than the normal subscription comes with; however, I love that this box has products for babies and moms. In my first year as a mom I received a subscription box and looked forward to getting it in the mail each month. The only down side to that particular subscription was that it was more baby focused so there weren’t as many products for me (and as a new mom you need things for you). This box has a great mix of products for baby AND mom!

I love that the products are all from small shops. The box came with a pamphlet with details about each product and many of them are from Etsy shops. In addition to supporting small shops, Growing Roots also supports literacy programs. The proceeds from the May box supported OLHSA Early Head Start program in Pontiac, MI, a program designed to help young children and pregnant mothers in low-income households.

Overall this is a great subscription for new moms. It’s helpful and a great value. The monthly cost is reasonable considering the number and quality of items you receive. You can pay month-to-month or prepay and save on a three, six, or twelve month subscription. Growing Roots would make an excellent gift for a mom-to-be. I know I would appreciate it!

About Melissa

Hi, I’m Melissa! I am a mama to my baby Aiden Milo (born November 2015), and a police wife to my husband Dan. I started this blog because, after having Aiden, I quickly learned that exhaustion and baby brain causes you to forget some of the er-lovely (sometimes horrible and sometimes wonderful) details related to the first several months of raising a baby. Considering we may have more kids in the future, I want to document everything we do, so we remember what worked the first time around, and hopefully help other first time mamas along the way!

This box looks so fun! Such great books and I love the products for mama. The Going to Bed Book is one of our absolute fave books! I’ve never actually purchased a subscription box for the exact reason you mentioned.
